The omniscience of God, in brief, is his divine ability to know all things, whether physical, spiritual, scientific, human, or cosmological. God also knows all things that will come to pass, and he retains almost all things that have transpired in the past.
"Almost?"
Right. God, in his divine omnipotence, and in his mercy, has made a way, for his benefit and for yours, to forget the evil and sin you have done.
This could only be accomplished by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, so the price for your forgiveness was very costly.
1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Psalms 103:12 (KJV) As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
"East from West" is a poetic way of saying, for eternity, absolutely, and finally. It means God makes your sin impossible for him to recall, no matter what reason might transpire. God does not want to know your sins, and he does not need to know them to feel like he is still in charge. Whatever comes down the road, he knew it was coming all along.
But, with our dear nanny in Washington DC, it is not so. American citizens do not trust Washington to stay out of our lives, and Washington has made it clear that they don't trust us to go unwatched. One way to determine what we are up to is to watch where we surf the web and eavesdrop on our email.
Also, Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and virtually every search engine out there, are tracking our surfing. They use it for various purposes. In the most innocent sense, a search engine could not function without gathering stats on the most popular sites online. The traffic to this blog, for example, is tracked, and if a lot of people are coming here, they place me higher when you type "Texas" into the search engine.
The problem is, most search engines give data of surfing to third parties because advertising is the way search engines make money. So, they need to give advertisers data on searches so the advertiser can tailor their format and key words to draw the most hits. Again, it can be seen as innocent and simply part of doing business online.
But, back to nanny, and to criminals and perverts-- there are people who crave to know the deviant thinking of other people. There are hackers who want your personal information to sell to criminals and sex perverts.
National law enforcement agencies also want our search data to try to stop crime before it happens. Also, government creeps, like former President Richard Nixon long ago, want to listen in or watch while we converse or surf.
AOL recently released millions of search histories onto the web "for business research" purposes. They claimed to hide the true identity of the surfers, but people have successfully traced some of these search histories back to the person and their identity. AOL has actually made themselves libelous to these surfers if anything comes back to do them harm.
So, we now have a situation where men, via technology, can recall things God has forgotten. The US Government can subpoena this information from hard drives by law if they can show cause for doing so. Your sins may be confessed and forgiven by God, but you could find yourself in prison one day, and God would not remember the act that put you in prison.
We need to understand that our lives are getting very public, and our destiny is to be made vulnerable to six billion curious people on planet earth.
I personally believe God may soon send us some surprise from space, like a solar flare, that will wipe out our whole technology empire from the whole earth. I do not believe God is happy that so many people can peek into the lives of their neighbors secretly.
