Like I'm Some Kind Of Freak

At school today, there was a pair of Catholic people who were actually pretty cool and didn't press their medieval viewpoints upon us too much, but still more than I would have preferred. Anyway, they put bits of paper around the school library saying like strongly disagree, disagree, slightly disagree, slightly agree, agree and strongly disagree. Than they said the statement "Lady Gaga is a good role model" which really fucked me off, cause they were obviously challenging people who did like her - and in a subtle "Fuck you!" to them, I stood in the "Strongly Agree" section obviously. They asked me why and I guess I hadn't thought of a very good reason other than that "Everything she does actually has a positive message behind it" which sounds very vague and useless really.

Thinking about it though, I really do believe she is a great role model! Not perfect obviously and it's not like some of the things she does aren't just for shock value and to keep herself in the headlights because she does have a new album coming out in a couple of months, but the majority of what she does is done in the name of show business! There's no real justification for the meat dress I'll admit, but it was pretty legendary and you can go on about animal rights and such, but people eat meat every day so making a dress that's going to be seen by millions of people is about as useful anyway. People can bash and say she "should have fed the poor" or whatever, but a better statement is... "Why the fuck don't I go and feed the poor?" If you haven't actually done anything but think about helping them, than you're just as useless.

Anyway, I've gone off track a little bit but it doesn't matter - it just kind of annoyed me that stupid Catholics would try and use Gaga as a little ploy to get people to side with their lame Catholic values, whether it be intentionally or not. FYI, Gaga's explanation for the meat dress was that she "didn't want to be seen as a piece of meat", or something like that, 'cept she worded it quite oddly, she talked about it on Ellen straight after the VMAs. Either way, I love Gaga and if you hate her that's nice... but at the same time you can go crawl in a ditch and die. Paws up for Lady Gaga!
