As many as 30 miners are reported unaccounted for following an explosion on Friday at a coal mine in New Zealand.
Radio NZ reported that emergency services said an underground explosion occurred at 4:30 p.m. local time.
The mine is about 50 kilometres northeast of Greymouth on the western coast of New Zealand's South Island.
Emergency services are rushing to the Pike River coal processing plant in Atarau, police said.
"It's not good," said Greymouth Mayor Tony Kokshoorn.
