JAKARTA (Indonesia) - POLICE say a small bomb has exploded east of the Indonesian capital, but no one has been hurt.

Lieutenant Colonel Dadang Raharja says police found the makeshift bomb in a cardboard box along with a note that said: 'This contains a bomb. Allah Akbar.' Allah Akbar is Arabic for 'God is great.'

The cardboard box was sitting next to a power box inside a housing complex on Jakarta's outskirts.

Lt Col Raharja said on Friday the bomb squad was removing the bomb so that it could be safely detonated when it went off outdoors, far away from the public.

The capital is already on edge, after four parcel bombs were delivered earlier this week to four high-profile Indonesians. -- AP
