Thought Power - Japa Yoga (Part 2)

Japa Yoga - Repetition of the same word or a short phrase or sentence.

In all spritual text, it is mentioned that good thoughts will lead to good actions. The end product is happiness. Right thoughts are words like charity, selfless, others before self, give, harmlessness, sharing fruitful thoughts etc that goes through the mind. These words give positive influence to the mind and body. Similarly, wrong thoughts will lead to wrong actions. Wrong thoughts are like cheating, manipulating, using people for one's gain, gossiping on people, saying vulgar language etc. The end product is sadness. In short term, one may be happy but after some time, one may feel sad in the end. That is why there is a saying that something that makes you happy for short term and not happy in the long term, a person should avoid the decision. If something does not make you happy now but over time will make you happy, one could take that decision. One chooses one's own fate through their own thought. One's fate depends on oneself.

In Japa Yoga, if the word repeated and it is as short as possible, which is known as a mantra, the more powerful will the thought become. One will have attention and eventually have very good focus. Eventually, one will have the attributes of the thoughts that they are having in the mind.

It is mentioned  that thought is more powerful than the solid that you see around. This statement made an impact when I read a book from the SSC library on the power of words and thoughts. That was consistent when I was reading a Phychology Research Journal, when I was studying at Loughborough University, in 1993. It was mentioned that the thoughts that goes through the mind will eventually form the  outcome outside.

That is why sometimes we see on the same day two different people - one having a positive experience and the other having a negative experience. One is having the best time of the day where everything turns out well and the other where they find that everything turns out to be unlucky throughout the whole day. In fact, we have seen these instances which keep playing in our lives as well.

What we can learn from here is if you want to be a champion, one should say words like, "I want to be a champion, I will be a champion one day". John Lennon one of the lead singer from Beatles, the famous English band, used to say that eveyday things are getting better and better. Hence, success will take place by itself. In fact, we choose our own fate - good or bad.

If one has a negative quality like fear, one could focus on a word like 'courage'. Over time, one will see oneself to be a courageous person in life. When it is repeated again and again, maybe about 100 times, this forms a picture of yourself being courageous and you will have the attribute of the word that you are repeating.
