Prediction in the 5000m Race
Picture 1 - Moses Kipsiro from Uganda may win the 5000m track race.
Moses Kipsiro (right) could take gold in the 5000 metres with his very consistent performance recently in a number of competitions. The competition is predicted be between Kenya and Uganda in the men's 5000 metres. However, Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya is also very popular for the gold medal as he was a silver medallist in the Beijing Olympics. He has resilience and has clocked 12min 51.21sec in Doha in May 2010, attaining the fastest time in the world this year. The 23-year-old Eliud is, however, threatened by Moses Kipsiro to win the gold medal because the former has been having a string of injuries and a bout of malaria recently.

The Commonwealth Games athletics championships will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium with one final only for the race. The men's 5,000 metres be a great event to watch with the Ugandan athlete Moses Kipsiro and Eliud Kipchoge match. Moses, recently has been consistently improving all the time. His regular training partner is two times European champion Mo Farah. Another Kenyan runner by the name of Mark Kiptoo has the potential to come in top three in the 5000m track race as well.

Picture 3- Yenew Alamirew winning the 3000m race
Yenew Alamirew, the twenty year old Ethiopian came to limelight in long distance with an important 3000m win at the Notturna International meet in Milan northern Italy.
His time of 7 minutes 28.82 seconds (7:28.82) is a life time best and is considered the second fastest time in the world this year.
26 September 2010 (Sunday), Holland
Twenty two year old Kenyan Leonard Patrick Komon set a new world record in the 10 kilometres by winning in the ABN AMRO Singelloop in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Komon won the race in 26 minute and 44 seconds (26.44). Earlier on, Komon was the world’s fifth fastest in the event with a 27:10 under his belt. The current record is 17 seconds faster than fellow Kenyan Micah Kipkemboi Kogo's previous mark set in Brunssum, the Netherlands (2009). In the race, it was the Kenyan runners coming in first, second and third. It was a clean sweep.

Haile Gebreselassie (World Marathon Record Holder)
Ethiopian world marathon record holder Haile Gebreselassie took part and won the Bupa Great North Run in Newcastle England. Gebreselassie took a commanding lead and cross the finish line way ahead of second runner of the race. A winning time of 59 minutes and 33 seconds (59:33) enabled him to have a minute lead from the Kenyan runner up Kiplimo Kimutai.
