Obama happens to be symbolic for the present.
The issue is this-- Is happiness and contentment acquired by qualifying for entitlement..........?
Or, is labor and work a better gift? Well, see how God looks at it:
Ecclesiastes 3:11 (KJV) He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
Work is a gift. Ask anyone who is trapped in a wheel chair if they are glad they cannot go to work. Hmmmmmm
Labor is often seen today as a curse. Many people I talk to groan about having to go to work, and if their situation is imperfect, they gripe as if their boss and co-workers and customers have an obligation to be the sweetest folks on earth.
Well, the first corporation and the first employee are found in the Bible:
Genesis 2:8 (KJV) And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
Genesis 2:15 (KJV) And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Adam did not have to be a keeper of the garden because he had sinned. These verses describe a perfect earth and a perfect occupation for the first man. AND, Eve was not there until verse 18, so we see that Adam did not keep the garden for the lower calling of feeding his wife and kids. He was God's employee for one and only one reason-- God made a garden that NEEDED keeping.
God could have created a garden that took care of itself just fine. And, if you walk in the woods where there is not keeper (farmer etc), you will see that nature survives just fine without man's help.
The modern notion, that man spoils the world by mowing the grass and removing some trees, is a lot of rubbish. God LIKES to see what men will do with what he created. God is a creator, and man was made in the image of God, so, (grab hold please) God likes to see what YOU will create. Do you think God would not limit his omnipotent (all knowing) power, and give man some choice in the destiny of God's world? If you cannot deal with this, you need to read less Calvin and more Bible my friend.
Watch this:
Genesis 2:19 (KJV) And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
God created the animals without names. In fact, God stood by, not stupidly, but as co-creator with Adam, and watched to see what Adam would name them. Adam made the first inventory record of the animal world, NOT Charles Darwin.
Once Adam sinned, some consequences of his sin were added to his work day:
Genesis 3:17 (KJV) And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Adam still was in charge of the Garden of God, but thorns and trouble were added to the job. Why?
Answer: Adam needed an incentive, as you and I do, to seek God every day:
Matthew 11:27 (KJV) All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
God did not want Adam to ever forget that God is more than a boss-- God is the one we must go to for rest. At the end of the day, at the end of life's journey and toil, THERE IS GOD- THERE IS JESUS CHRIST!!!
By the way, even though Jesus was sinless, he worked in a carpenter's shop until he was 33 years old. He was no boy wonder preacher for all those years.
Joseph seems to disappear from the Gospel records, so I assume that Jesus may have had to run the shop alone for a number of years. For those years, he got tired like you do, and he had to make sure his mother, Mary, had food for the table. That working man KNOWS how you feel at the end of the day my friend. That is why he can say, "Come unto me.....". He has been there too. He is you ultimate "rest".
Now, let us discuss entitlement. It is wicked for a healthy man to be entitled to ANYTHING. All he needs will be supplied by toil and work with his own hands. God made this the only honorable plan.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 (KJV) For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
If you do not like this plan, you are a lazy four flushing wart on the nose of humanity. And I say that, as always, in good Christian charity.
To a man who works hard, six days a week like, our working God and creator, his day of rest IS rest. It is not just another day, AND he learns to appreciate it and seek out his creator on the seventh day to pick up his tired spirit and refresh him.
Then, back to work, to the garden, or to the assembly line. The reason many of us see Monday morning as the beginning of sorrows is because we don't like God's plan after all.

When a healthy man is hanging around the house all day, the whole family and marriage relationship is tested badly and often destroyed. And, his kids, by watching Daddy, learn to be losers and loafers. I believe one reason it is so hard to reach lost sinners in the ghetto is because they are always at rest. They have arrived, in their imagination, in heaven where there is no work. Who needs God and his rest?
It ought to make a true Bible believer weep to realize that the south side of Chicago is the only heaven thousands of men will ever know. AND, it ought to make that believer vote the culprits out of office who perpetuate this wickedness.
If there is one thing that irks me the most about Barak Obama, it is all the time and money he and his family spend taking their ease. Being President of the USA used to be hard work, and it left a man visibly and physically changed after only four years. I believe the Obamas have the virus, the one that says, "You deserve it, take what you can get from the system."
1 Timothy 5:8 (KJV) But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
The ongoing policy of the US Government to entitle people, with an income, and not require them to work for keeping the garden (as Adam did), or doing service to those tax payers who supply their income, is perhaps the most inhuman and wicked sin of the USA.
It is very sad that millions of "illegals" are needed, in agriculture and in construction around the USA, in order to keep the food flowing, while millions of healthy men sit at home being paid out of the tax revenue.
There is vastly more honor in an illegal Mexican on a ranch in Arizona, sending most of his pay home to Momma, than there is alleged honor in the lazy loafer, sitting on a bench on the south side of Chicago, puffing on weed and being paid by the tax payer to do NOTHING.
We moved to Texas to "retire" about three years ago. I have been a pastor and a piano tuner most of my working life. After three years on ten acres in the Hill Country, I still have a long list of odd jobs to do to care for the living "garden" God has given us and my son and son-in-law.
But, I find that I have a feeling like I need to go somewhere and do something to justify my existence. So, I plan to put an ad in the local paper and tune a few pianos. Not many. I have plenty of jobs here to keep me physically active, but it seems wrong for me not to earn some of my corn pone by doing work for someone else.
I think that Social Security and Medicare and paying farmers to not plant crops are all a bit suspect. They cause people who could still work to think they are entitled to do nothing and be rewarded for it. There needs to be a way, in a prosperous nation like the USA, to lift the burden off of the aged or the sick if they become limited physically. But, to pay a healthy farmer to sit in the local cafe, sip coffee, and complain about all those Black girls living an Aid To Dependent Children, is a blight worse than the boll weevil.
That farmer is getting Aid to Dependent Cows, Aid to Dependent Corn, and Aid to Dependent Cotton. Sounds like ADC to me. What is the difference?
Hmmmmmmmmmm?
