I have dedicated myself to never bore you-- insult your intelligence maybe-- provoke you probably, but never bore you. So, I now present the past and the future by two men. One man talking about man, and the other about God.
Now, where have we arrived at?
For starters, we now are permitted, courtesy of Winston Churchill and Rush Limbaugh, to end a sentence with a preposition. Not earth shaking, I realize, but this is progress.
I note, more seriously, that man, if our Swedish guide is correct, has made tremendous progress in just one hundred years.
I note from Mr. Russo that God has made very poor progress it would seem.
We read from the hand of Moses in Genesis, Genesis 3:8 (KJV) And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
God used to walk in the evening with Adam and Eve, right there with them. Now, God is indeed invisible, and after about 6000 years of efforts to find him, Mr. Russo has concluded that he does in fact exist somewhere out there.
Now, we must conclude that either God did not try hard enough to find man, or man has not tried hard enough to find God.
Proverbs 2:1 (KJV) My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
So, if you have sought to find God, you have only found him if you looked for him in the words of God, the Holy Bible and by faith and not by meeting God in person at a tent meeting in Oklahoma. You have found that God has revealed himself to you in the person of Jesus Christ, but you still must meet him by faith, not by sight.
It is very interesting that, in proportion to our progress in the last one hundred years, we have also declared the knowledge of God to be kept out of public view and only a matter of personal opinion.
Those who have made the most human progress seem to be the ones who have done the best job of wiping out the knowledge of God. If there is no God, this is no big deal. If there IS a God, then God has to be very upset that he allowed man to be intelligent enough to make such fantastic progress, but too stupid to give him the credit for it in creating man with a brain.
So, I conclude that man is on his way to wipe out the existence of God, or God is about to introduce himself in a way that man will not miss-- personally in his Son Jesus Christ. And, I also must assume that all of man's mongrel "progress" will be wiped out, and it will be replaced with a new heaven and a new earth the way God wanted it to turn out.
Which of the two above options you anticipate will determine whether you prosper in a much more glorious future or go to hell.
Your choice................?
Is there a God, and are you living your life on his terms?
