Katy Perry - Firework

I totally love the video for Katy Perry's new song "Firework", she had dedicated it to the "It Gets Better Project" which was created in the wake of the 5+ gay teenage suicides that took place in America within a month. However, Katy has also stated in an interview (I forgot where I read it so no source sorry) that the video was for all bullied victims and how she hoped everyone would be able to rise above it and find the "spark within themselves that makes them different". (or something along those lines) The director of the video, Dave Meyers, said this about the video in an interview to MTV:

"I had written the treatment already with the idea of deconstructing her a little bit, and then 'Teenage Dream' came out and deconstructed her all the way," Meyers said, laughing. "So I had to switch gears a little bit. But really, it was easy, because I connected with the song. I felt 'Firework' was very personal, and I was very drawn to that. ... We wanted to articulate the meaning of that song: what it means to be an underdog and have the courage, if you're on the outskirts of society, to be your own person."

I think the video is fantastic, a great song, visually impressive and a nice message. Enjoy!

Celebrity of the Week: Katy Perry

I was angry at how Katy Perry dissed Lady gaga's video for "Alejandro" for a while, but I guess I'll forgive her for it since I love the two singles, 'California Gurls' and 'Teenage Dream' off her upcoming album and the video for 'California Gurls' was so cute and nicely themed.

Anyway I don't really have much to say except from the obvious - she's stunningly beautiful, has a great voice and has released some really good songs! I admit her first album "One of the Boys" was only 50% good and the rest was pretty crappy space-filler type songs, so hopefully "Teenage Dream", the name of her upcoming album, will offer up a lot better! Looking forward to her next video for the single 'Teenage Dream' as well, hopefully it's inventive. Unfortunately from the screenshots of it I've seen it looks like a lame party-on-the-beach type set-up, but hopefully she or someone else has had some better ideas than that!

After the ick known as Not Myself Tonight, this is exactly what Christina needed - a ballad! You Lost Me is the new single from Aguilera's fantastic album Bionic. This is the single version which is the same as the album version except with drums in the 1st verse. Its a wonderful song.

I love David Archuleta. And in my opinion, he should have won AI. But that has nothing to do with his awesome new single! Something 'Bout Love is everything I loved about his last album with more of an upbeat pop sound. Fantastic! LOVE IT.

Katy Perry's "California Gurls"

So I hated Katy for a week as a result of her comment towards Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" video, which I adored but she made up for it in an interview and kinda took it back so I forgave her, and went back to liking her. Can't say she's one of my favourites though, she's a good singer and unbelievably attractive - but her attitude is a bit arrogant and a bit lame. However, just seen her new video for her latest single "California Gurls" featuring Snoop Dogg and I thought it was so fucking cute and pretty much was my childhood dreams realized! I am obese at heart (and believe me, in reality too if I didn't run and exercise like a leopard on steroids) and the amount of candy in this video makes me drool.

I just thought this was a really happy and cute video and wanted to pass it on.
