Look who's back! ITS KUMI. And she brought cupcakes!
Gossip Candy is this diva's new single and its pretty hot. Lollipop is definately the best song on here. Inside and Outside Fishbowl are the same song in a different pitch ( wtf unnecessary?). Got to Be Real (Cheryl Lynn cover) was used in Pepsi Nex commercials and lets us hear some of Kumi's wonderful Engrish.

Celebrity of the Week: Koda Kumi

This is OFFICIALLY catching up for like, the last few month's "Celebrity of the Week"s because I missed it one week and then spent every week afterwards doing it for "the week before", but here we are - CAUGHT UP. Since I did BoA, a mainly K-Pop (Korean Pop) artist I'll also do Koda Kumi, a J-Pop artist. Figure that one out yourself if you're that stupid. I discovered Koda the same way I discovered what has so far been the greatest musical impact upon my life. Sweetbox aka. Jade Valerie aka. ETERNITY∞ aka. Jamie Pineda aka. Saint Vox - in that order. ;) I discovered them through the Playstation 2 game "Final Fantasy X" where, as she was known at the time, "Jade from Sweetbox" was the main singer. The theme songs were "real Emotion" (yes, with a little 'r') and "1000 Words" - one a really upbeat pop song & another a moving ballad. Jade's voice was IMPECCABLE but after searching around Sweetbox, I realised it was originally planned for Koda Kumi to sing the theme songs, because Final Fantasy is a Japanese franchise. Unfortunately her English was and never has been, well, let's face it's pretty shit. So that is why Jade sung it for the English version & Koda sung the Japanese version.

So from then on I fell in love with Koda Kumi also - my favourite J-Pop artist! (Closely ties with Utada with Ayumi not far behind!) The first full album of Koda Kumi's I ever got was "Black Cherry" and I loved it! I'll never know why I like Asian pop music, I don't even know what they're singing - but from the music, tone and mood of the song it's usually easy enough to get a feeling for what the song's about. After that I got the album "Kingdom", which was a really amazing album as every song off the album had been released and every track had a music video (PV) for it. Pretty unheard of in my book! Except for like 2 or 3 videos, all were high budget, high production videos. I LOVE THEM! Anyway then I got the album "TRICK", which even featured Fergie (from the Black Eyed Peas) in it. Not the best song though...

The music, similar to like Lady Gaga, isn't all what it's about. Koda is EXTREMELY hott & sexy and always looks amazing. All of her albums have a theme which I really like, like Black Cherry had... well actually I'm not sure as it wasn't as obvious. However Kingdom's theme of royalty was cool, as was Trick's circus theme. Her latest album "UNIVERSE" is combined with Koda's third "Best of..." (forgot it's name exactly) album and it also has a really neat throwback to the previous best of albums on the cover. CBF'd explaining, if you're a fan you'll know. Otherwise you probably won't care. Anyway I've rambled, but I just wanted to get my point across... I love KUMI-SAN!! (Two images because I love "Kingdom" and "Trick" album promotional photos so much!)

Micro/Tele/Video-phone

It has come to my attention that having the word "phone" in a song title generally seems to mean that it's going to be a really good song!

Exhibit A:
Beyoncé's "Video Phone". It also featured Lady Gaga which was a BIG bonus for the song.

Exhibit B:
Lady Gaga's "Telephone" featuring Beyoncé was and is an AMAZING song and the video will be cherished by me forever. Live it, love it. Should have made it in 3D, it's worthy.

Exhibit C:
Ayumi Hamasaki's "Microphone" off her soon-to-be-released album "Rock'n'Roll Circus", which I am VERY excited about, to say the most. In fact I'll make it the picture of this post because Ayumi is one of my FAVOURITE Asian (Japanese specifically) artists and I love her and she's a HUGELY MASSIVELY successful star in Japan, you have no idea. It's kinda ignorant that basically no one I know has heard of Ayu, except for those who I have told her about. Which by the way, is many. (You're welcome, Ayu.) Anyway, she's awesome and I love her. Dying for Koda Kumi's new album too. Hope BoA releases a 2nd English album too. Utada's last English album (This is the One) was good... but not great. If she made the music a little more poppy I might like it, but a full English Version of album 'Ultra Blue' would go down nicely too.

Oh wait? You don't care about all of that cause you don't know/like Asian music? SUCK IT. :)

I had a shit day and everything sucked and teachers hate me and I have no friends. That is lé fact.

Sarah, I hope you live up to your promise with Oscar!

P.S. Alex, Rianna, Nadine, Ashleigh & Natalie are all MILFS. But without being mothers. Obviously. (will refer back to this regarding Ashleigh in 9 months.) Sorry for those other readers who didn't get shout outs. You don't leave comments and just creepily stalk - so how the christ am I meant to know?

Answer: I'm not.

Cheerio.

EDIT: Holy shitballs!!! Koda Kumi's latest album is already out so I thought I'd be kind and post one of the singles off her album which is actually a cover of an unused track which was supposed to be on Kelly Clarkson's "All I Ever Wanted" album. The track's called "Can We Go Back", I'll post Kelly and Koda's songs for you to compare. Unfortunately Koda's label Avex is soo annoying and NEVER lets her music be on YouTube, so unfortunately no youtube link for her version. (I like Koda's just cause she's a legend. Sorry Kelly, yours is awesome too!)

Layout Change

New layout, this time featuring Koda Kumi; and a promotional picture from when she released the single 'Ai no Uta' (Love Song) which was on her album 'Kingdom'. I liked the photo, and it's a bit depressed; like me lately, so enjoy.

Haven't managed to figure out how to make drastic layout changes, and I'm really sick of how this blog looks (aka. awful!) so any help would be nice. Layout makers anyone? ;-)

[Obsession of the Week] GUILTY

I'm not usually much of an Ayu fan, but this album 'GUILTY' really grabbed my attention! I have only really liked her song 'Fairyland' before and the two Sweetbox covers (aka. 'Ladies Night' and 'Bold & Delicious') but there were some songs on this album I just LOVE! The introduction song 'Mirror' is amazing, and then the song after '(don't) Leave me alone' is probably my favourite song! I love it!! Great beat and on bass it sounds amazing! The title song 'GUILTY' is great too, quite a darker more thoughtful, regretful sound to the song. It's amazing! 'glitter' is also a nice song, this is just a fab album from Ayumi Hamasaki! I have yet to listen to her new album 'Next Level' but the cover art for it is pretty funky so I will have to take a listen and see what I like, Ayumi is typically my least favourite of the main Japanese power-pop trio with Koda Kumi and Utada Hikaru, but this album really is amazing! That reminds me, Utada's new album March 14th! Like, two days away OMG!! And BoA's like a week later! Two English albums from Japanese artists, they might be mainstream in like two weeks. Holy shit!! GOOD LUCK BoA AND UTADA!!
