F**k Him He's a DJ

I just really wanted to give a blog post of mine that title, it's Ke$ha's latest song off of her new remix album 'I Am the Dance Commander + I Command You to Dance: The Remix Album' which I just totally copy & pasted from iTunes cause there's no way in christ I could be bothered writing that one. I would also just like to add just how much I love Ke$ha's music, this remix album has the best remixes ever! Normally remix albums suck and I'm going to say that Lady Gaga's 'The Remix' was a very poor remix album if you ask me.

I really want to write about something going at my hall but I'll literally get in trouble if I do so... obviously I can't. Seriously, the one thing I could write about to get a tonne of traffic... Oh well. So I went out last night and, as usual, it was a waste of time cause all I ever do is end up walking around between bars/clubs without ever really dancing or drinking. I almost left my phone in one yesterday and then the most annoying thing ever happened. Well not 'ever', but it was pretty up there on the scale of annoying-ness. I sat on a curb/ledge thing and burnt my thumb on someone's cigarette butt! I was furious and had to keep stealing ice from people's drinks to keep it cool, I wasn't a happy chap.

Alright, I just realised this blog is lame and going nowhere. I kinda don't have a lot to blog about, even though life's insane being a university student and living at Weir is pretty crazy, life is pretty much considerably routine now. I have a big day tomorrow and I have a big assignment due on Wednesday that may not be started yet so off to have a wee nap now, and then I'll get onto it tomorrow.

I wish I had more to blog about but I really have nothing to say but I really feel like writing, what's that called? Just "writer's block", right? I don't know, whatevz. I'm going home for the mid-trimester break in three weeks and I can't wait to see my family, my friends and my dog Mia! I miss her like crazy, I hope she hasn't like, forgotten me. It's going to be really weird not seeing anyone from the hall for like two weeks but considering I've seen everyone I'm friends with, every day for the last two months plus (by the time the holidays are here) it's going to be crazy not to see any of 'em for two weeks.

Lady Gaga Update

I can think of no good reason why anyone would NOT have watched Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' video, it's a spectacle and her career will I doubt ever be boring. I love the Sci-Fi aspects of the video and the simplistic choregraphed dance routines which I just think should be in every dance video, but are so often not!  I like to see an artist show us what their made of without a billion cuts, Gaga has a fair few but Britney Spears' latest 'Hold It Against Me' had a horrific amount of cuts and you KNOW it was because she couldn't learn the dance routine, or couldn't do it well enough to show it in it's full glory. Unfortunately Britney is now purely manufactured, and I don't know why I only just realised this, but I have. I doubt severely that she has really any control over her career, she's just a money making machine and as long as she sells, which she does, I suspect this'll be the way it will remain until she finally gets sick of it. I can imagine Britney just up and quitting one day and eventually fading away, not so sure she'll ever really be able to fade, but she could definitely give it ago if she wanted to.

Anyway, that tangeant went on, without further ado - Born This Way!!

[NEWS] Britney VS Gaga : Which Single is Better?

With the release of Lady Gaga's latest single, "Born This Way," on Feb. 11, pop music fans have finally been able to compare the track with the other reigning pop diva's highly anticipated new single  -- Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me."
Since the first single to Spears' forthcoming seventh album "Femme Fatale" debuted on Jan. 10, the song has debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and sold 790,000 copies through four weeks, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The full-length music video for "Hold It Against Me," which was produced by pop maestros Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald and Max Martin along with the producer Billboard, debuts next Thursday (Feb. 17), before "Fatale" hits stores on Mar. 29.

While "Hold It Against Me" is a sexy, kinetic dance song, "Born This Way" is a disco-tinged call-to-arms that urges the listener, "Don't be a drag, just be a queen." After Lady Gaga performs the song at the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday (Feb. 13), the single has a shot at debuting at No. 1 on the Hot 100 -- becoming the 1000th song to take the top position on the chart.

Now that both songs have been released, it's your turn to tell us how you feel about them.

[New Single] Lady Gaga - Born This Way

A Horrible Fact of Life

Yesterday, attention was brought to me that people had actually not seen the video for Lady Gaga's "Telephone", I honestly think it's Gaga's best. Although "Bad Romance" is her most popular favourite, I prefer both "Telephone" and "Alejandro" far more, although not sure which of the two I like more. However, I really like "Telephone" and I beg you, even if you don't like Gaga or the song, this music video is a work of art and contains so many subtle messages! For example, when the video is shown as a camera recording, the date is the date that the designer Alexander McQueen, a famous designer and close-friend of Gaga (he designed the claw-shoes she wore in "Bad Romance"), died. Also, only two of the product placements are actually paid for, PlentyOfFish.com and... I forgot which one the second is, pretty sure it's the mobile phone she uses but I forgot because it's not a brand recognised in New Zealand from what I remember.

Lady Gaga Update

So Lady Gaga, along with a bunch of other celebrities, have sacrificed their 'digital life' to raise money to fight AIDS and HIV, which you can donate to by using the information at the bottom of this post.

Anyway, I love how Lady Gaga is really going all out with this theme by dressing as a corpse bride-esque type character while shopping in Milan, Italy. I would donate if I could but a) I can't use that text number and b) $10 USD is like almost $15 NZD, which is becoming a little more than I'd ideally like to give. Poor New Zealand, always out of the loop. Why is this the smallest country ever? Seriously.

Text GAGA to 90999 and donate $10 to help children fighting HIV/AIDS. http://buylife.org

Celebrity Quote: Lady Gaga

"So basically I did this whole show carrying 100lbs, looking out of one eye, dancing – and then my tits explode at the end. It's not as easy as it looks!"

Like I'm Some Kind Of Freak

At school today, there was a pair of Catholic people who were actually pretty cool and didn't press their medieval viewpoints upon us too much, but still more than I would have preferred. Anyway, they put bits of paper around the school library saying like strongly disagree, disagree, slightly disagree, slightly agree, agree and strongly disagree. Than they said the statement "Lady Gaga is a good role model" which really fucked me off, cause they were obviously challenging people who did like her - and in a subtle "Fuck you!" to them, I stood in the "Strongly Agree" section obviously. They asked me why and I guess I hadn't thought of a very good reason other than that "Everything she does actually has a positive message behind it" which sounds very vague and useless really.

Thinking about it though, I really do believe she is a great role model! Not perfect obviously and it's not like some of the things she does aren't just for shock value and to keep herself in the headlights because she does have a new album coming out in a couple of months, but the majority of what she does is done in the name of show business! There's no real justification for the meat dress I'll admit, but it was pretty legendary and you can go on about animal rights and such, but people eat meat every day so making a dress that's going to be seen by millions of people is about as useful anyway. People can bash and say she "should have fed the poor" or whatever, but a better statement is... "Why the fuck don't I go and feed the poor?" If you haven't actually done anything but think about helping them, than you're just as useless.

Anyway, I've gone off track a little bit but it doesn't matter - it just kind of annoyed me that stupid Catholics would try and use Gaga as a little ploy to get people to side with their lame Catholic values, whether it be intentionally or not. FYI, Gaga's explanation for the meat dress was that she "didn't want to be seen as a piece of meat", or something like that, 'cept she worded it quite oddly, she talked about it on Ellen straight after the VMAs. Either way, I love Gaga and if you hate her that's nice... but at the same time you can go crawl in a ditch and die. Paws up for Lady Gaga!

News: Uni's gone Gaga with new course

A us college is offering a course on Lady Gaga. Students at the University of South Carolina can learn about the Poker Face singer as part of their degree.

Professor Mathieu Deflem said his "Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame" course is the only one of its kind in the US.

The prospectus says: "The central objective is to unravel the sociologically relevant dimensions of the fame of Lady Gaga."

Mr Deflem said: "We're going to look at Lady Gaga as a social event. Other people say that Gaga's the new Madonna. I see it more like there's people who have this very individual thing. Frank Zappa had it. Prince had it. Miles Davis had it. Jimi Hendrix had it. And Lady Gaga has it."

Lady Gaga Update

"You see, if I was a guy, and I was sitting here with a cigarette in my hand, grabbing my crotch and talking about how I make music 'cause I love fast cars and fucking girls, you'd call me a rock star. But when I do it in my music and in my videos, because I'm a female, because I make pop music, you're judgemental, and you say that it is... distracting. I'm just a rock star."

More Gaga! (Get Excited)

That dress is actually the dress Lady Gaga wore on the red white carpet at this year's MTV VMA's. This photo's from a photo shoot she did for "Vanity Fair" magazine, which is a crap magazine, but they salvaged something out of it by getting Gaga on board, smart move. Basically I just wanted to have another little fan-meltdown moment like I was having on the day of the VMA's, she just blew me away.

However, I'll be the first little monster, literally, to admit that the meat dress kind of was just attention seeking and... yeah. She had a vague reason for wearing it but it didn't really make sense and... I don't know, it was wicked for the fans because that's half the reason people love her, the whole "What will she wear/do next?!" factor is half of her whole deal, the other half's the music really. Anyway, the meat dress was cool but it's drawn her a lot of criticism and I can understand why. It was a wee bit offensive and a little unnecessary. Still, I fucking loved it.

Anyway, today I didn't do much except for go to school for an English tutorial, because we have our mock exam tomorrow (to which I haven't studied for, try contain your surprise if you know me) and... yeah. Afterwards Nick, Oscar and I went to the mall and had lunch and met up with Rianna and Becca, exciting stuff, to say the most. I had a fatty Indian butter chicken thing with rice and naan bread (or whatever the F it's called) which was pretty sick, fatty and sweet, won't be getting that again. Also it was like, like warm, so not so hott, literally.

On a more suicidal/morbid note, I feel like my life is on hold until I get my damn university Hall of Residence letter telling me if I have been accepted or denied - I'm scared, because being denied will change my ENTIRE course of life, and that's official. If I don't get in to a hall, I figure I'll stay at home and either get a minimum wage job and work a shitload (if possible), but more likely stay at home with my parents and do something at Nelson's Institute of Technology (NMIT, the M is 'Marlborough', which is the whole region, Nelson's the town where it's in). A scary thought and not ideal, but it could work, leaving's to a new city alone is so scary and I feel a bit young and unprepared really. NEVER moving houses in my entire life hasn't helped either, so scary.

Fortunately I have someone that will always be there to empower and motivate me while giving me the strength to be myself and all that shizz... LADY GAGA!!

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

You were born this way, baby.

How fucking incredible was Lady Gaga at last nights 2010 MTV Video Music Awards? Not only did she clean up the award ceremony and picked up eight awards, including "Best Video" for 'Bad Romance', but she also announced the title of her upcoming album, "Born This Way", which is such a fantastic name I know.

I cannot get over her meat dress! I read all about it here (and got the picture).

Lady Gaga, you mean everything to me and you will forever empower me more than any hideous hypocritical religion wishes it could. Just like you said, "Little monsters, tonight we're the cool kids at the party." and holy F-balls, I felt like it too! It's easy to misinterpet Gaga, and of course, she does need publicity to continue her success, but I feel ultimately her reasons for such 'unique' outfits and lyrics really is too emphasis, well, what her new album's going to be called. Some people are just born this way.

Lady Gaga Update

On the topic of posting pictures, I just saw this photograph of Lady Gaga performing her "Monster Ball" tour at L.A.'s Staples Centre, and I just LOVE her hair right now! The yellow streaks are cool, but I think I love the full yellow do more. Little monster for life!

18 and Free... Except Not

Had a good 18th Birthday on Saturday, hung with Brandon & Nathan in town for the late morning and afternoon, hit the gym (like a sensible 18 year old should - it was a light workout) and than went to dinner in Tahuna @ '623 on the Rocks', not very impressed with that place - won't be going there again any time soon. It was a combined dinner party because my friend Amy Moffat also celebrated her 18th on the same day, and we have pretty much all the same friends which is handy.

Dinner kind of sucked anyway, so appreciative of my friends that did come, but so many couldn't for one reason or another. No Nick, Rob, Ashleigh, Natalie, Lydia - sucked. These are the people I typically spend all my time with, well, not Lydia so much - but she's cool.

Went to town afterwards with Lauren & Amy (NO ONE else came on my 18th. Seriously! I have no friends that care.) and had some drinks at a girl from Garin last year's, Bernie's, flat by town. (Grammar is fucked up there, I know, tell someone that cares. ie. my English & Media teachers) Good to dance in town and stuff but had NOT drunken enough and was practically sober dancing like a loon in a sweaty crowd.

This week's been pretty miserable, 'specially today as found out some miserable news, well actually I found out yesterday afternoon but it doesn't make it any more nicer. A year 9 girl, Michaela Menzies, died (hate the term "passed away") & today at school was, as to be expected, miserable and depressing. What I don't like is high & mighty people that think just because you're not crying and making a fuss that you're not sad. I'm not really a big crier with deaths, and have been feeling pretty weird lately - just unemotional and kinda plain. Hard to explain. Guess that's what being single & miserable while being bombarded by every direction from school feels like. Anyway, it's especially sad for me because her older sister Alex Menzies is in my year and she's a great girl (I blogged about her a few times like, last year) so I'll be keeping her & her family in my thoughts, not my prayers because the only thing Catholicism does is promote discrimination and hypocrisy.

Just deleted a big portion about my school was because it was very negative & I need to suck the school's balls to get a good testimonial to get into University... then and only then will the negative juices begin to flow again!

Still pissed off at Oscar, my "friend", who stole my Arts Captain position from me and therefore will glide on into university while I suffer and probably get rejected for 'having no head roles', the fact I'm better than everyone else is relevant. (Clearly, I'm beyond the point of caring how my ego must sound. The truth isn't always that egotistical.)

The facts are, I wouldn't be slagging off my school for no reason - and trust me, 'voicing an opinion' gets you in trouble at Garin. So does asking the religion teacher about dinosaurs.

ALEJANDRO

You know that I love you boy,
hot like Mexico, rejoice.

At this point I gotta choose,
nothing to lose.

Words can't explain how much Gaga means to me! She is beyond any celebrity and has achieved so much as a result of her superior creativity, supreme talent & unique approach to everything she does! Music, concert, video, fashion - she dominates it all and makes it completely her own!

She is my icon and inspires me in every way completely, I love her to death!

Ho-liday

I've decided to self-diagnose myself with depression for a number of reasons, and here's why. Firstly, I'm ugly and fat - and that's just the way I'm feeling right now but I guess I can't go on about that forevever, although it's likely I'll try.

Ok so here's one thing that's really bugging me... I'm really f-ing pissed I didn't go and see Lady Gaga's "Monster Ball" concert in Auckland last month! It looked SO amazing and although would've set me back $800, which btw is a fuckload of money, I reckon it would've been worth it - I'm just one of those hardcore little monsters that really feels like I'd do anything for Gaga! She's just so awesome! Although I must say, I saw her interview on "Music Station", the Japanese talk/music show and for some reason she just kinda bugged me. I normally love how she's quite expressionless and just seems so incredibly detached from "normal people", but she was sitting with some Japanese artists that I REALLY like and have also achieved MASSIVE success. I just didn't like seeing artists like Ayumi Hamasaki and the trio of 'Perfume' being sooo overshadowed and kinda ignored. I know my racist and English-loving-only friends wouldn't understand, but yeah, it kinda bugged me. Gaga did chat a bit with Ayumi which was good but it was all about Gaga - then again I guess she is the biggest star in the world right now so I shouldn't seem so surprised. It's just weird seeing such amazing and successful people being overshadowed. Whatever, at least Ayu got her latest single "Microphone" plugged - and Gaga's live performance of "Telephone" was pretty cool. (You can see this interview and the performance by clicking here.)

Anyway, another thing that's murdering my sanity - I'M SINGLE. Need I say more?? It SUCKS. I know a certain girl with the initials B.M. that'll be feeling the single life burn right now. Brutal.

Another thing - work! I shouldn't bitch because I've seen so many job-loss horror stories as a result of online bitching, but at the end of the day, no one at my job is going to admit my job is good or fun, it's just being a machine. Answering questions, bagging stuff, taking payments. A smart machine could do it. As much of an incentive as minimum wage is... I guess there is an incentive, study hard at school and GTFO to a better job! It's alright for part-time, but really sucks when I get to a Friday after school and everyone's like "Yay weekend!" and I'm like "Yay*, 8/9 hours of work tomorrow & an early start on a cold morning." Upsetting stuff.

More bitching? Why not? I agree. SCHOOL. Why is it sooo f-ing miserable, and is the 7am wake-up call for the 8.30am start really necessary? Talk about ruining my already pretty dismal life. I can't really be bothered whinging about school in particular cause at the end of the day, what can you do about it? Nothing really. Just have to struggle through with it, with smarter kids making me feel stupid and teachers making me feel unworthy & lazy. Gotta love it. -eyeroll-

Anyway, VERY quick holiday round up. Monday I don't think I did anything. I think I did though. I did do something actually... Not sure what. Oh yeah I had a Stage Challenge (dance) rehearsal, that was a joy. Tuesday... fuck I really can't remember. All I know is that on Friday I had a really long Stage Challenge Rehearsal, and then caught up with Brandon whose over from Australia & he stayed the night. Thursday I hung out with Nick & Oscar btw. Just remembered. Today Brandon and I went to town to hang out with Ashleigh and Natalie which was good, and Nick came literally at like 5pm when Ash and Nat had gone and Brandon and I were just on the phone with Ashleigh, DYING of boredom. We really were though. Nick, Brandon and I went to 'Café Affair' and... well, did nothing. Ate fatty bullshit, aka the story of my life. Tomorrow I have a, wait for it, FOUR HOUR STAGE CHALLENGE PRACTICE, I'm tired thinking about it - but hopefully it'll be good. Ok, sick of typing but... yeah. You love it.

Micro/Tele/Video-phone

It has come to my attention that having the word "phone" in a song title generally seems to mean that it's going to be a really good song!

Exhibit A:
Beyoncé's "Video Phone". It also featured Lady Gaga which was a BIG bonus for the song.

Exhibit B:
Lady Gaga's "Telephone" featuring Beyoncé was and is an AMAZING song and the video will be cherished by me forever. Live it, love it. Should have made it in 3D, it's worthy.

Exhibit C:
Ayumi Hamasaki's "Microphone" off her soon-to-be-released album "Rock'n'Roll Circus", which I am VERY excited about, to say the most. In fact I'll make it the picture of this post because Ayumi is one of my FAVOURITE Asian (Japanese specifically) artists and I love her and she's a HUGELY MASSIVELY successful star in Japan, you have no idea. It's kinda ignorant that basically no one I know has heard of Ayu, except for those who I have told her about. Which by the way, is many. (You're welcome, Ayu.) Anyway, she's awesome and I love her. Dying for Koda Kumi's new album too. Hope BoA releases a 2nd English album too. Utada's last English album (This is the One) was good... but not great. If she made the music a little more poppy I might like it, but a full English Version of album 'Ultra Blue' would go down nicely too.

Oh wait? You don't care about all of that cause you don't know/like Asian music? SUCK IT. :)

I had a shit day and everything sucked and teachers hate me and I have no friends. That is lé fact.

Sarah, I hope you live up to your promise with Oscar!

P.S. Alex, Rianna, Nadine, Ashleigh & Natalie are all MILFS. But without being mothers. Obviously. (will refer back to this regarding Ashleigh in 9 months.) Sorry for those other readers who didn't get shout outs. You don't leave comments and just creepily stalk - so how the christ am I meant to know?

Answer: I'm not.

Cheerio.

EDIT: Holy shitballs!!! Koda Kumi's latest album is already out so I thought I'd be kind and post one of the singles off her album which is actually a cover of an unused track which was supposed to be on Kelly Clarkson's "All I Ever Wanted" album. The track's called "Can We Go Back", I'll post Kelly and Koda's songs for you to compare. Unfortunately Koda's label Avex is soo annoying and NEVER lets her music be on YouTube, so unfortunately no youtube link for her version. (I like Koda's just cause she's a legend. Sorry Kelly, yours is awesome too!)

Kelly:
